La Poesía de la Comida
This project was all about food! Well... also poetry. We researched a specific dish of food from a Spanish speaking country, cooked and then wrote an ode about it, in Spanish and English. In my case, I chose to study buñuelos from Spain, which are fried dough smothered in cinnamon sugar. To start off, we explored the world of food, and narrowed our findings down to one dish in particular. Then we translated recipes into Spanish using simple vocabulary and sentence structures. After finishing the recipe, we wrote an ode about our dish, or a specific ingredient in it, and translated that into Spanish too.
While this project was pretty intense, it was really fun to learn about different cultures and the variety of foods available for exploration. Writing an ode to food was probably my favorite part, and while I might not be the next Pablo Neruda, I sure hope to develop my skill as a writer and poet.
Below you can find my recipe and my ode to buñuelos, both in English and Spanish.

Los Cuentos Infantiles
For this project, we researched a specific town in a country located in South America, Central America or Mexico. Afterwards, we used cultural details to write and illustrate a children’s story in Spanish. Using simple Spanish sentences and basic elements of children’s stories, we were on our way to creating beautiful stories that conveyed the cultural experiences of Spanish speaking towns around the world.
Throughout this project, I learned many different Spanish concepts such as colors, nouns and activities. My favorite part of this project was definitely working on the final draft of my book. Drawing my pictures and handwriting all of my text into my book was an intense process, but I had a lot of fun working on it. Looking back on my book, I don’t think I would change anything about it. The amount of time we had to complete this project was just perfect for me to fully refine and finish my book.
